Looking for a way to get more involved in your community? Do you have 10minutes, 1 hour, 10 hours a week to volunteer? Have you always wanted to give back but couldn't find the right opportunity?

Well PrideAlive is looking for volunteers, and we are the perfect opportunity to get involved. Whether
you just have a couple minutes a week or all the time in the world, PrideAlive has a volunteer
opportunity to fit your schedule. Most important, you will have lots of fun, meet some cool people and be able to choose the volunteer position that is right for you!

OUTreach Worker

This position involves heading out to various LGBT venues to distribute safersex information and
supplies. This opportunity is great for anyone social who loves to go out into the community and meet new people.

Volunteer Commitment:

• 6 month commitment (or 1 semester for college students)
  

• Conduct a minimum of 2 outreach shifts per month (approx. 4 hour commitment per shift)
  

• Attend a minimum of 3 monthly Outreach Trainings at MAP every 6 months (1 hour trainings)

Total minimum commitment for 6 month period: 51 hours

Condom Distributor

This position involves being responsible for stocking set locations with safersex information and
materials. You would be responsible for checking on supply inventory at these locations and
replenishing supplies as needed. This position is great for anyone who is already hanging out at all the LGBT and LGBT friendly hangouts around the city.

Volunteer Commitment:

• 6 month commitment (or 1 semester for college students)
  

• Be responsible for supplying at least one set location with safersex information and materials
  

• Checking set site 2 times a month and picking up more supplies from MAP to take to site as
  needed

Total approximate commitment for 6 month period: 12 hours per site

Secondary Condom Distributor

This position involves distributing safersex information and materials to your social networks. This
position is great for anyone with a wide social circle, especially lots of friends in need of condoms.
Essentially, you would just be going about your typical life, but have safersex info and materials available to your social circle.

Volunteer Commitment:

• 6 month commitment (or 1 semester for college students)
  

• Distributing a minimum of 50 safersex kits per month
  

• Stopping by MAP at least once a month to pick up supplies.

Total approximate minimum commitment for 6 month period: 20 hours

SaferSex Kit Assembler

This position is the bones of our condom distribution operation. Every Tuesday night volunteers gather at the Minnesota AIDS Project to assemble our safersex kits and work on other occasional projects. This is the perfect volunteer position for someone who likes to do things with their hands.

Volunteer Commitment:

No minimum commitment required. Stop by any Tuesday Night at MAP, 1400 Park Avenue
South, in downtown Minneapolis from 7-9 pm.

Event Identifier

This position involves tracking events, parties, get togethers, etc. that are happening in the Twin Cities LGBT community. This position is great for anyone with their finger on the pulse of what's up in cities. We need to know where to be to reach folks, and we need someone to help us find the best locations.

Volunteer Commitment:

• 6 month commitment
  

• Track events, parties, etc. weekly (2 hours a week)
  

• Report to PrideAlive staff on a weekly basis, identify specific events (1 hour a week)

Total approximate commitment for 6 month period: 78 hours

Message Distributor

This position involves helping PrideAlive get the word out about condom use and HIV testing. PrideAlive

will supply the messaging. All you need to do is send it out to your friends, family, or whomever you
think needs to hear the message. This position is perfect for anyone with a large social circle, especially online. This is a quick and easy way to get involved!

Volunteer Commitment:

• 6 month commitment
  

• Every other week copy message supplied by PrideAlive to your Facebook,

• Twitter, e-mail
  contacts, etc. (30 minutes)

Total approximate commitment for 6 month period: 6.5 hours

Tuesday Nighters

Everybody’s talking about Tuesday Nights at PrideAlive! We meet in QueerSpace at MAP every Tuesday from 7-9 pm for food, friends, fun, and volunteer projects.

Social Environment Outreach

We go to all the queer places where you love to hang out! Social environment outreach means we visit Twin Cities GLBT bars and coffee shops, distributing safer sex materials and talking with customers about how they can protect themselves and get involved with our fabulous program. We provide orientation and quarterly training for volunteers who do social environment outreach.

From ValleyFair to nights at the theater, holiday parties to hiking trips, PrideAlive keeps you busy with fun get-togethers for all kinds of queers. We need volunteers just like you to help plan, put together, and work at the events. Social event planning meetings occur during our weekly Tuesday Nighters.

Twin Cities Pride Festival

The Twin Cities have one of the four largest pride festivals in the country and we need volunteers every year to set up, work at, and tear down our booth. If you’re interested in getting some sun and meeting tons of beautiful people while promoting PrideAlive, be sure to sign up.
